Glossary > ICO
ICO refers to initial coin offering and allows crypto ventures to raise funds.
It is a way for cryptocurrency companies to fund a new service or product (an app, a platform, a coin…). It is basically the same thing as an initial public offering (IPO) but for crypto projects.
To raise money, ICOs use tokens that investors can buy in exchange for a share or a utility. They can then use these tokens in the new service or product.
